Cameron Kids—the children’s book imprint of Cameron + Company, an independent publisher based in Petaluma, California—publishes children’s books for all ages. We are a growing list of compelling, thoughtfully and beautifully written, illustrated, edited, designed and produced titles. Our focus is making picture books, but we are open to all formats—board books, novelty, concept, creative nonfiction, chapter books and fiction, if they are a fit for our list.
Because we are a small, independent publisher—we currently publish 10 titles a year—we only publish books we all love, books that matter, books that need to be books, which requires us to be pretty picky. We love to see poetic, highly visual, picture book stories—think spare and lyrical, not necessarily end-rhyming—and compelling picture book and board book concepts. We are interested in creative nonfiction, too.
Please spend some time looking at the books on our list on our website and at the bookstore. If your children’s book manuscript or concept truly feels like a fit for us, you are welcome to send it (or a brief query for fiction) in the body of an email to Amy Novesky, our Children’s Book Editor, at amyn@cameronbooks.com. Due to the high volume of submissions we have begun receiving, regretfully we are no longer able to accept unsolicited submissions. As of September 1, 2019, we will only accept manuscripts from current authors and illustrators, agents and reps, and by referral. We wish you the very best of luck finding a home for your work.
